About Us

Our approach:

When families come to Christman's Funeral Home, Inc. to make arrangements for a loved one or discuss preplanning, they often ask the same question: "What do I do next?"

Our mission is to answer that question and all the questions that follow until we've created the perfect farewell, which truly looks different for every family.

Your loved one's service means a lot to you, so it means a lot to us. Throughout the years, we've seen how valuable funeral, cremation and memorial services can be when they're made specifically for your loved one.

We've had the honor of serving thousands of Lebanon, PA, families with personalized services since 1941. The current team, led by owner and director Gregory A. Vaitl, has continued that tradition since 2009.

What sets us apart from a lot of other funeral homes is that we're really a funeral home—with emphasis on the word home. Our physical location was built in 1844 as a residence. We love that our space has character, and we think it makes people feel more comfortable in what's often an uncomfortable time.

We value transparency. That's why you can find all our options and pricing online.

Our history:

The Lebanon, Pennsylvania, home was built in 1844 and remained a residence until 1941, when John Risser purchased it for use as a funeral home until his death in 1951. Willis Christman purchased the funeral home from Risser's widow and renamed it Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., in December of 1951.

Christman owned the funeral home until the early 1990s, when he sold it to his employee Doug Redinger, who then sold it to the current funeral director Gregory Vaitl in 2009.
