Phyllis Torgersen

Longtime Middletown resident Phyllis Arlene Torgersen, 81, died January 11, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA following an extended illness. Phyllis was born on September 6, 1940 in Staten Island, NY. She lived there until 1972 where she moved to River Edge, NJ. She moved to Middletown, DE in 2002.Phyllis graduated from Barrington College in 1962. Following graduation she taught elementary school at Franklin School in Ridgewood, NJ until she retired in 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents Leif (1988) and Sylvia (2010). Surviving are her brothers Donald (Anne), Paul (Katherine) and Bruce (Kathleen); 6 nieces and nephews; 14 great grandnieces and grandnephews. Graveside services will be held at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 1:00pm. A memorial service celebrating Phyllis' life will be held at a future date.
