Arthur G. Groff (Art), 101, of Cornwall, PA passed away on Monday June 14, 2021. He was born in Mt. Zion, PA on January 2, 1920, to Peter J. Groff and Margaret Glick Groff. He was a 1937 graduate of Lebanon High School. In 1941, he married the love of his life, Olga (Ollie) Morgan, to whom he was married for 57 years, before her death on July 4, 1999. Art served in the army during WWII, with tours of duty in the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. After returning home in 1946, he found employment at the Bethlehem Steel Company as an electrician where he continued to work for 35 years before retiring in 1982.
In 1955, Art moved his family from Lebanon to North Cornwall Township to a house that he built himself on a nice piece of country land where he planted an orchard and kept a large vegetable garden. He lived in that house for 50 years before moving to Cornwall Manor in 2005. Art was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, serving the church in various functions, as well as, serving the church’s Boy Scout program as a leader and committeeman. He was a member of the Annville American Legion for over 50 years. He was also an avid stamp and coin collector. Art and his wife, Ollie, loved to travel and annually embarked on long cross country road trips which eventually covered all of the lower 48 states. They were avid line dancers and square dancers and instructors. They were also active members of the Senior Center of Lebanon Valley and the YMCA.
Art is survived his daughter, Joan Groff of Tucson, AZ, his son, Thomas and wife, Jill, of Lee, MA and his two grand children, Andrew Groff and Leslie Groff of Pittsfield, MA. In addition Art leaves his half brothers Harry Bomberger of Lititz, PA and Edward Bomberger of Reno, NV.
In addition to his wife, Ollie, Art was predeceased by his sister Ruth Ann Miller; his step brothers Christopher Bomberger, Herbert Bomberger, Robert Bomberger, and George Bomberger; his step sister Hilda Creager; his half
brothers Donald Bomberger, Ralph Bomberger and William Bomberger and his half sister, Barbara Bomberger. A private grave side service will be held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
