Woodrow W. "Woody" Walmer, 91, of Myerstown, died on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at StoneRidge Town Center.
He was born on Tuesday, May 18, 1926 to the late John Walmer and Emma Walmer nee Houser in Fredericksburg. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of Iona. He and his wife were married on April 2, 1955. He was a farmer, ran the rock crusher at Calcite Quarry and performed outdoor maintenance and tore down farm tractors at Wengers of Myerstown from 1985 to retirement in the early 2000's. Woody enjoyed watching wrestling, raising rabbits and always studied the Sears tool catalog. He attended John & Dale's softball games (as adults) and always had time to help mow a yard or help with a home improvement project. Woody loved homemade apple pie. He couldn't read but always worked hard to provide for his family. Woody could still swing a sledgehammer into his 70's. He was a quiet, honest, dependable, hardworking and loyal man.
Surviving are sons John W. "Wally" spouse of Rose Walmer, Dale A. spouse of Lisa Walmer; grandchildren Julie Halpin, Nathan Walmer, Jake Walmer, Molly Dubble, Micah Walmer, Alyssa Saylor; great grandchildren Gracie, Kara, Mikayla, Emma, Hailey, Grayson, Ellen. He was preceded in death by wife Fern Walmer nee Boltz; son Arthur W. Walmer; grandchild Megan Walmer.
Viewing will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Iona United Methodist Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service.
