Louise S. Weaver

August 29, 1931 — March 16, 2024

Lebanon

Louise Spangler Weaver, 92, of Lebanon, died on March 16, 2024, bless her heart.

Born in Philadelphia on August 29, 1931 to the late Lavina (Buck) and Martin Spangler, Louise was an enthusiastic member of the Lebanon High School Class of ‘49, and a faithful member of Covenant United Methodist Church.

Louise devoted much of her life to the service of others, especially her late husband Charles L. Weaver, her five children: Charles R (Tammy) Weaver, Kathryn (Scott) Conrad, Edward Weaver, George (Tanya) Weaver, and Susan (Steven) Almy; as well as her nine grandchildren: Steven Weaver, Lindsay Carpenella, Nicole O’Connell, Matthew Conrad, Elizabeth Eldredge, Luke Weaver, Ryan Weaver, Lauren Almy, and Daniel Almy; and eight great-grandchildren.

Louise’s childhood memories in Lebanon were shared with her sisters, Josephine (Ralph) Bomberger, the late Joyce (William O.) Weik, and the late Elizabeth Spangler. She was predeceased by a brother, George Spangler.

Never seeking recognition for her acts of service and kindness, Louise made a positive impact on her community in many small but meaningful ways.  She served as a volunteer in numerous positions at Covenant Church, the Good Samaritan Hospital (now Wellspan), local elections, and the Developmental & Disability Services of Lebanon Valley.  She also enjoyed needlework, playing violin, watching tennis, and was an accomplished seamstress.   Being a good Methodist, she sang “lustily and with good courage” when her housework and hymn-singing went hand-in-hand.

Louise and her family are deeply grateful to the staff at Cornwall Manor, especially those in Corson Hall and Hillside 2, as well as the staff and volunteers from Hospice for All Seasons.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 in the Zerr Chapel at Cornwall Manor.  Visitation will be at the chapel from 10:00-11:00.

Memorial donations can be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR): https://umcmission.org/umcor/ or the Central PA Food Bank: https://www.centralpafoodbank.org/
