Herman Smitley

Herman Leroy "Butch" Smitley, 75, passed away January 17, 2019 after a chronic illness.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sarah R. Smitley and loving sons Edward L., Robert E. and William H. Smitley. Grandchildren include Robert Drew, Stacey, April and Raymond; 4 great grandchildren.
Butch was a 3 tour Vietnam vet who retired from the US Air Force after 21 years of service to America. He will be fondly remembered for his 27 years at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire by "Friends of the Faire" and fairegoers. His many talents include Father Christmas, greeter, faireground maintenance and finally as a volunteer security pass greeter at the gate.
Butch's father, Herman V. Smitley, US Army, WWII, mother Jean R. Groff Smitley and sister Joyce preceded him in death.
He tried to give everyone he met a smile to cheer up their day.
