Early Monday morning, April 29 th of 2024, Gary R. Margut, 73, passed away surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Brenda S. Margut, they had just celebrated their 54 th wedding anniversary in March. He was born in Lebanon to Richard W. and Rachael M. Margut. Gary graduated from Lebanon High School and received a bachelor's degree from Penn State University. Gary served in the United States Navy. He began his  career in 1973 with the Lebanon City Police Department and retired as Captain after 29 years of service. Gary also retired from the VA Medical Center. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working part time landscaping with his son-in-law, Jimmy. Gary is survived by his daughter, Kimberly A. Paugh (wife of James), and his son, Ryan E. Margut (husband of Kristen). Gary was the beloved "Beba" of 5 grandchildren: Sam Beard (fiancé of Kelly Muenster), Emma Spang (fiancé of Matthew Marakowski), Noah Spang, Taylor Bixler (wife of Kyle) and Eyan Margut. Alongside them, are his great granddaughters: Eden and Ellie Bixler. He is also survived by his sister, Gail Paporiello (wife of Russ) and his brother, Richard Margut (husband of Deb). In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his grandsons, Benjamin and Carter Spang. In his free time, Gary enjoyed taking care of his cars, beach vacations, going out to dinner with friends and family, the symphony, and taking walks with his dog, Heidi; all while chewing on his favorite cigar. Above all else, Beba loved, cherished, and supported his grandchildren in all ways possible. His time spent at Sunday family dinners will always be held dear to his family. Per Gary's wishes, services will be held privately for his immediate family at Fort Indiantown Gap. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael H. Wise II Memorial Foundation.
