Earl Goodman

September 10, 1920 — February 8, 2018

Earl E. Goodman, 97, went Home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2018.
Born in Tremont, Schuylkill County, Pa. on Sept. 10, 1920 to Paul and Beulah Harner Goodman, he moved to Lebanon in 1937, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1938.  Further education included Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and Lebanon Business College.  He worked as an electrician and business office manager for 35 years at College Hill Poultry in Fredericksburg, Pa.  After losing Charlotte, his dear wife of 61 years, he spent many years volunteering at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital in various capacities including transport, educational services, front desk, and short stay waiting room. Earl was a World War II veteran, having served in Fiji and New Hebrides as master sergeant in island command headquarters.  His many interests included a love for music, mostly classical, writing and arranging hymns, Sudoku puzzles and Jeopardy, and watching his beloved Phillies. Earl's
greatest legacy is that of a Christ follower.  He was a faithful member of New Beginnings Grace Brethren Church of Myerstown where he served in various ministries over the years - choir and hand bell choir member, Sunday School teacher, missions committee, and deacon.  His great passion was his participation in the ministry of the Gideons International, helping to distribute Bibles around the world.  He served in local and state camps over the years, holding offices of president, secretary, treasurer, chaplain, and area coordinator. He spoke on behalf of the Gideons in many local churches and travelled around the country to attend international Gideon conventions.
He will be dearly missed by children: Carol (Ira Barrows) Hummelstown, Lois (Don Kickbush) Lebanon, Nancy (Lee Lantz) Brighton, Michigan, and Tom (Kathy Goodman) Harrisburg.  He is also survived by brother, Paul Goodman, Annville, grandchildren Bob (Alicia), Sarah (Robert), Megan, Matthew, Christian, and Micah (Brittney), and great-grandchildren Danielle, Aubrey, Kaylie, David, Jack, Colin and Alexianna, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private interment at Grandview Memorial Park, Annville.
A celebration of life service will be held at New Beginnings Grace Brethren Church, 430 E. Lincoln Ave., Myerstown, on Saturday, February 17th, 10:30 AM.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Gideons International, Lebanon East Camp, PO Box 134, Myerstown, Pa 17067.
